Pupil Premium is funding allocated to schools for a specific purpose of boosting the attainment of disadvantaged pupils.

Funding is based on children who have registered for a free school meal (FSM) at any point in the last 6 years, have a parent who works in the Armed Forces or a child that has been in Social Care for more than 6 months.

 Its purpose is to provide schools with additional resources, outside of the school budget, to deal with inequalities for families with differing/challenging incomes. 

For the 2023/2024 financial year, the Pupil Premium value is £1,455 for any pupil who has been registered for Free School Meals at any time during the last 6 years.

Schools get £2,530 for every pupil who has left local authority care through adoption, a special guardianship order or child arrangement orders.

Schools get £335 for every pupil with a parent who is serving in HM Forces or has retired on a pension from the Ministry of Defence.
